Application for specialization

Dear Students,

As you may know, you should choose a specialization with thesis topic this semester at a Department where your thesis work can be completed till the end of your studies. The BSc in Horticultural Engineering program is coordinated by the Institute of Horticultural Science at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The deadline for application to the chosen specialization is March 10, 2025. Please contact the department where you can imagine to choose a thesis topic and try to be informed about the current research works and supervisors.

If you are interested, you can attend on an information event organized to K3 lecture hall for students started at 17.15 pm on March 3rd, 2025, where the leaders of the specializations present the actual topics available for students (the official language will be Hungarian, and can be accessed online as well, via elearning platform below).

Specializations available in 2025 are as follows:

1. Floriculture and dendrology (Department of Floriculture and Dendrology)

2. Medicinal plant production (Department of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants)

3. Fruit crop production (Department of Fruit Growing)

4. Viticulture (Department of Viticulture)

5. Vegetable crop production (Department of Vegatable and Mushroom Growing)

6. Horticultural biotechnology and variety breeding (Department of Plant Biotechnology, Department of Plant Ecology/Section of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology)

7. Environmental management (Department of Agroecology)

8. Organic farming (Department of Agricultural Ecology and Organic Farming)

9. Biodiversity (Depatment of Botany)

Please enrol to the above course and download the application form in MSWord, fill then go to the Buda Campus Registrar’s Office to Ms. Luca Molnár (Molnar.Luca@uni-mate.hu) to submit it. In parallel, you are obliged to chose the specialization online too, in the neptun system, using Administration/choosing module. The deadline will be announced later via neptun message.

The decision about your acceptance will be made till March 19th, 2025, when you will be informed by the Department about the result (accepted/rejected). If your application would have been rejected, please apply again to a specialization of an other Department till March 24th, 2025, when the same application form can be applied, and submitted to the Buda Campus Registrar’s Office. You will be informed about the result of the second round till March 31st, 2025.

Submission of application forms for eligible specializations at the Budai Campus Registrar’s Office (only for rejected applicants) (2nd round) until:	March 24th, 2025
Consideration on 2nd round applications and result release until:	March 31st, 2025
Admission of students for specialization in Neptun system	Early April, 2025
