The Department of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants is unique in Hungary today with its high-quality research and extensive educational activities. The teaching materials at the BSc, MSc, PhD and postgraduate level cover, among other things, the knowledge of wild and cultivated medicinal plants, their agrotechnics, their phytotherapeutic and other uses, their active ingredients, and their processing methods. The topic of the thesis and diploma work of students choosing the specialization is primarily based on their own experimental work. The department regularly offers doctoral opportunities to Hungarian and foreign PhD students.
The department is a member of the Medicinal Plant Association and Product Council, and has extensive relations with the production sector. He participates in the development of sector strategies, in specialist consulting and in chamber work. His main research profiles are the chemical diversity of medicinal and aromatic plants, factors affecting the accumulation of active substances and drug quality, as well as technological innovation. Initiator and successful participant of domestic and international research projects. The department owns the largest medicinal plant gene bank collection in Hungary.
