Since its establishment in 1946, the Department of Vegetable and Mushroom Growing has continued to develop and disseminate intensive vegetable and mushroom cultivation technologies. We participate in all levels of the linear university education, where we teach the biological and agrotechnical foundations of vegetable cultivation, agrochemistry, irrigation options and methods, cultivation technologies both in the open field and under cultivation. Our research is connected to the supply of nutrients for vegetable cultivation and the development of rational fertilization systems. We participate in the development of technology, in the examination of the parameters of the content of vegetables. We conduct intensive research on the grafting of vegetables.

Related to mushroom cultivation, with DUS tests of variety candidates, as well as the development of integrated control methods (pathogenic diagnostics, hygiene audit) we contribute to the development of domestic and international cultivation. We provide significant specialist advice both domestically and internationally. For each of the subjects taught by our department, there is a textbook, textbook or notes written and edited by our instructors. In the bachelor and master's programs in horticultural engineering, we teach a popular specialization in both Hungarian and English.

Within this framework, we usually contribute to the development of our students' abilities and skills by leading experimental works, and to the preparation of high-quality professional and diploma theses. The mission of our department is individual talent care, TDK and Talent Day preparation, mentoring. For each of the subjects taught by our department, there is a textbook, textbook or notes written and edited by our instructors. In the bachelor and master's programs in horticultural engineering, we teach a popular specialization in both Hungarian and English.
