Hygienic monitoring of mushroom cultivation

Due to the special technology of mushroom cultivation, the plant protection agents used in crop cultivation cannot be used at all, the producers must also use other procedures against pathogens and pests. Due to the specialties, mushroom cultivation has always been able to use few approved pesticides, and due to the accelerated technology, compliance with food and occupational health waiting times is also a serious challenge.

Licensed active substances are currently used in the cultivation of chives, there are no licensed active substances for other mushroom species.
Successful protection against pathogens can be achieved by increasing preventive hygiene. With the help of hygiene monitoring, the critical points of the cultivation plants can be found and the focal points can be eradicated with targeted disinfection, thus increasing the profitability of cultivation.
With the method we have developed, we take samples in the grow houses, then grow and evaluate the developing colonies in the laboratory. The grower receives feedback evaluated on a five-point scale about the contamination of individual sampling sites and the effectiveness of their own cleaning protocols.
